I use photography to identify and define the environment in ways viewers might not otherwise see or imagine. The Covid 19 pandemic abruptly halted my ability to travel to and create photographs of new and unknown places. I redirected my attention to outdoor spaces closer to home where I could walk on a daily basis as a safe way to spend my time during the pandemic. Nature became my refuge from the confines created by the pandemic and also became a source for creating a new type of imagery.
The pandemic compelled me to discover different ways to look at my immediate environment and to create images. The work I am sharing for this exhibit reflects those efforts to find the unfamiliar in the familiar that I might not have seen or created but for the pandemic.
