The Spark of Painting: Workshop with Joshua Elias

Join Featured famil-E Artist Joshua Elias for a workshop designed to inspire the artist to be exceptional, fueling them with the fundamentals to make a good painting great!
Students can expect to be actively painting throughout the workshop, while Joshua covers the principles of composition, line, color, subject, objective, scale, tone, and vibration. There will be additional discussion of oil versus acrylic as a medium, shapes in the physical universe, and color mixing.
Joshua will also share his thoughts on foundation as the spark for content for resonance, pictorial tension, drama and harmony, earth, ground, and sky as clarified by Da Vinci, and understanding the painting as object.
Depth in painting comes with a lightness and a sense of play and humor!

Joshua Elias (b. Chicago Illinois 1957) a Los Angeles based abstract artist, at the forefront of a painterly kinetic abstraction, alluding to an internal and eternal figurative and imagined landscapes. Joshua Elias has a powerful command of color, design and imagery within his works. He exhibits in Los Angeles as well as internationally. He will be exhibiting in the famil-E exhibition, along with Joyce Elias and Sheila Elias, for the first time on JUNE 17-JULY 30 at the Art Center Highland Park.
All students must be vaccinated and wear masks throughout their visit to The Art Center.
