Storytelling Workshop, led by Louis Greenwald and Lauren Kee

Saturday, Jul 12, 2025

10:00am – 3:00pm

We’re all storytellers already. This workshop will try to improve attendees’ storytelling skills. The small group/larger group method will be used. No attendee will be forced to tell a story, but group participation will be urged and appreciated. Art will also be used. Remember, vivid memories are linked to emotions. A Good story will show those emotions.

Louis Greenwald was dragged to the National Storytelling Festival by his wife Susie in 1985. Since then he has attended ‘millions’ of storytelling events, produced 7 concerts and tells stories as often as audiences will put up with him. He has won 2 Moth Story Slams, and has told stories in Chicago, Highwood, Highland Park, Glencoe, Madison and Phoenix, Arizona. His mentor is world famous Storyteller Donald Davis. The first story he told was under the direction of Donna Lubow of Short Story Theatre.

Lauren Kee is a storyteller drawn to vulnerability, reflection, and connection. She started storytelling in the summer of 2021, gathered around a fire pit during a workshop led by Scott Whitehair. Since then, Lauren has honed her craft using imagery, metaphor, and dialogue to bring listeners into the big and small moments of her life. By day, Lauren is a project manager at Braven, where she helps low-income college students find meaningful careers. She finds inspiration in Chicago’s vibrant storytelling scene—and in the lyrics of Taylor Swift. You can follow her storytelling journey on Instagram at @_laurentellsstories.

Fee for attendees: $75
