Our current world commands a rise in civic engagement. People are beginning to voice their concerns and frustrations with the injustices of our fractured society, but many feel as if their words and actions simply aren’t making the kind of impact they desire.

What to Expect

Participants will get real-world experience in:

• Planning and executing community events
• Researching hyperlocal issues facing surrounding communities
• Understanding how non-profit groups are organized and created

As the founder and CEO of the city’s fastest-growing social impact organization, My Block, My Hood, My City Jahmal is the creator of an exposure-based education program for teens and a network of volunteer initiatives that serve Chicago communities year-round.
