Artist Talk: Growing up Jewish- Art and Storytelling
Tuesday, Jul 26, 2022
7:00pm – 8:00pm
Highland Park resident Jacqueline Kott-Wolle whose traveling exhibit, Growing Up Jewish – Art and Storytelling, will be at The Art Center until July 15, will talk about Jewish identity in America and how it shifts from one generation to the next, especially looking at the tension of wanting to preserve Jewish traditions while contending with the pull of assimilation and American freedom.
The exhibition illustrates her family’s personal narrative, including the key people and experiences that shaped her distinctly North American brand of Jewish identity. Inspired by decades of family photos, Jacqueline’s colorful works portray Jewish holiday and ritual observances, Hebrew school, summer camp, vacations, milestone celebrations, and relatives who were killed or rescued in the Holocaust
Growing Up Jewish- Art and Storytelling will be on exhibit at The Art Center Highland Park from June 17-July 15th, Monday through Saturday, noon to 4pm. This event is sponsored in part through the support and cooperation of the United States Holocaust Museum. Private or group showings available on request.
