Start a fling with metal this summer. Explore texturing, sawing, filing, soldering, and polishing metal while you make a series of copper rings. Silver is available for purchase. No previous experience required

This fun and informative course provides a great foundation for the mosaic beginner, but there is so much to learn that most people come back time after time. You will experience the creative process of mosaics one step at a time, way beyond the naive concept of “crazy paving” and “coloring in” with broken tiles. Many varieties of mosaic materials will be covered. Students provide their own materials. You will learn cutting, shaping, and classical laying techniques of the tesserae from first principles. Materials available for sale at class.

This class is for students who have reached the mid to advanced level of figure drawing. We will be moving at a fast pace with emphasis on further developing the students current abilities. Model studies will be from two to three weeks each allowing the individual students to explore questions and solve problems in their work. This class is not appropriate for beginners. (Price includes weekly Live Model Fee)

In this multi-level class, demonstrations will be tailored to the skill levels
of the students. While working on a project of your own design, learn or
enhance your skills in soldering, riveting, etching, and forming. All levels

allows you to use pure dry pigments, you will experience this while learning

Whether you are a beginning or intermediate level artist you can take your

a professional painter for 26 years. I will present helpful practical advice on
technique, composition and equipment. I will share my specific color palette

This 4 week course is aimed at giving beginning social media students a good foundation in the world of social media. Artists at all levels will use the language of form, color, and line to create art with varying degrees of independence from visual references. Since abstraction exists along a continuum we will explore and develop art ranging from partially abstracted to totally non-objective. Designed for teens who have a minimum of one year of experience wheel throwing. This class will explore more complex forms such as teapots, jars, combined, and altered forms. Learn to really use your digital camera and enhance your computer skills. We will introduce Adobe Bridge and Photoshop while working on creative photo assignments each week as well. Students should bring their digital camera, cable, manual, and any accessories to the first class.

Inspired by the little treasures you save and love we will cleverly combine old and new elements to create spectacular jewelry. Bring your special & sentimental keepsakes, single earrings, buttons, charms, chains, family photos, and found objects, and let Bonnie inspire your creativity. We can create wonderful new designs from vintage treasures. You will learn to solder, wire wrap, and string. It is mixed media and repurpose at its finest. We will incorporate shards of china, junk, tin candy boxes, keys, thimbles, buttons…you name it! This is clever, creative, and so much fun! Resources for treasure hunting will also be discussed.

Discover how to draw the human form from live models. Explore gesture, anatomy, line, and tone using a variety of drawing tools. Each class will include quick gesture and longer poses and is great for beginners or for those who would like to draw from a live model. (Price includes weekly live model fee)

Have you ever wanted to sculpt a portrait from a live model? Now is your chance. In this fun and challenging class, using water-based clay, you will learn classical sculpting skills including building a basic armature, recognizing head shapes and placing and modeling facial features. Finished sculptures will be hollowed, dried, and fired into stoneware ceramics. If you love people-watching and want to be creative as well, this is your class. There will be a model for two 3-week poses with a studio day between.

Learn to paint landscapes by direct observation of nature. Composition, color mixing, use of tools (brushes and palette knives) will be discussed in class. Instructor will be painting in class alongside the students, as well as giving weekly demonstrations on painting techniques.

Learn the art of making small boxes and lockets. The class will cover teh use of teh hydraulic press to make dimensional forms, incorporate surface design, such as etching and roller printing, chain making, hinges, and clasps techniques to be covered too. It is recommended that participants have basic jewelry-making skills, including soldering. All students will finish the class with a wearable box that they have made.

Everyone can make jewelry! Design and create silver, copper, and brass. Basic metalsmithing and jewelry processes such as sawing, texturing, etching, soldering, and finishing techniques will be demonstrated. Demonstrations will be tailored to students sill levels. Learn to create landscape paintings that reflect your state of mind, your different moods, and your soul. You will be guided from start to finish learnng to compose, mix paint, use different strokes (and brushes) and even palette knives. Referring to photos, memories of places, and sketches as visual support, you will be guided to develop paintings that are especially “yous”

Improve the quality of your Digital Photography. In this beginning class you will learn all the basics of Photoshop including how to edit, enhance, restore and print your favorite images. Digital Camera functionality will also be covered. Requires knowledge of Windows or Mac.

Learn how to paint the human figure wearing clothes. Models will be posing for 2 to 3 weeks. This class will take on the challenges of drawing or painting the figure with clothing. All mediums are welcome, but it is important to bring a large pad of newsprint, charcoal, and/or good drawing pencils to do warm-up sketching. Learn how to take on the challenges of the clothed model!

If you want to change from a technical photography course, but like the motivation and support of a class, Professional Practices is for you. Class includes instructor presentation, review of historical and contemporary photographers, one-on-one guidance and group input on building your photography portfolio. For those of you that have Photoshop Elements at home and would like to learn the basics, this is the class for you. We will be learning basic photo editing fundamentals with a concentration on ease – of – use.

Painting Fundamentals is a class for artists who are trying out painting for the first time or coming back to painting after some time off. Bring in your silver scrap and we will fuse it together to make interesting textured plate, and then turn it into one-of-a-kind jewelry. Intermediate to advanced students.

This watercolor class is a perfect opportunity to learn and expand your creativity with the beautiful use of watercolor painting. Students will work on traditional techniques such as: wet-into-wet, wet-into-dry, color glazing, washes, and many more. We will be using watercolor paints and watercolor pencils (if desired). What is an “altered book?” Any book old or new that has been recycled
by creative means into a work of art. They can be rebound, painted, cut,

This class is for ages 7 – 12. We will explore the art of papier-maché adding a twist by incorporating found objects. This class is one-on-one instruction in developing your papier-maché recipe to building, forming, painting, and sealing your sculptures. This class encourages independence and fosters creativity through self-expression and mastering techniques. Appropriate for students at all artistic levels. For previous students who have taken Trash to Treasures, this is a perfect if you would like to explore recycling, up-cycling, and sculpture. Students will learn the fundamentals of mosaics including design, selecting materials, tool use, cutting techniques, and grouting. Students will learn basic skills to achieve success at photorealistic results down the line. Class includes line drawing, blind contour drawing, perspective, shading, still lifes, and a strong focus on light source to create dramatic effect.

Comic book drawing is almost all perspective and proportion. A strong knowledge of human anatomy and musculature is necessary to successfully create comic book art. Students will practice basic anatomy, character traits, showing movement in character using “forced” perspective, and vanishing point perspective theory.

Students will learn to wind and cut your own round or oval jump rings, assemble the chain, hammer texture, and solder the links. Clasps, bails for pendants, chain mail, and wire wrapping with bead will also be demonstrated. Each student will design and complete a necklace or bracelet by the end of the course. All levels welcome. No experience necessary.

Learn dichroic glass fusing utilizing slide, gold transfer, and Millefiori. Gain the technical expertise to continue to fuse on your own. Students will enjoy learning and experimenting while making several pieces of wearable art

Do you want to model professionally? Join this 2-day workshop with TV and Film pros team to create professional photographs for your own Modeling Comp! Learn about the business from insiders. Wardrobe, hair, makeup, and posing will be reviewed and photographs will be taken on location.

This workshop will introduce new ways to add color to your encaustic collage using paper, fabric, oil sticks, and nature elements from around the world. Workshop will start with “Crash Course” safety, demos of popular encaustic painting techniques with a focus on collage, ironing exotic papers, pastel transfers, Xerox transfers, and imbedding embellishments. Students will have one hour to play/experiment/practice. Final 2 hours student will work on a collage of their ancestry or a fantasy one. Will end with a 10 minute discussion of experience. Students will learn basic skills to achieve success at photorealistic results down the line. Class includes line drawing, blind contour drawing, perspective, shading, still lifes, and a strong focus on light source to create dramatic effect.

Comic book drawing is almost all perspective and proportion. A strong knowledge of human anatomy and musculature is necessary to successfully create comic book art. Students will practice basic anatomy, character traits, showing movement in character using “forced” perspective, and vanishing point perspective theory.

This class is for students who are ready for more challenging drawing and painting projects. Students will practice developing realism in their artwork and work w/more sophisticated materials. We will also discuss certain periods in art history and review important art vocabulary.

No experience needed! All skill levels are welcome. The emphasis will be on learning how to use the potter’s wheel. The class does include the basics of clay – coil, pinch pots and slab methods of making functional and sculptural pieces that will be glazed and food safe. (Class fee includes supply fee for clay, firing and glazes).

Focus on creating colored beads first. Then mix colorful layers of wool roving to form inside of the bead. A spectacular surprise when opened! We will then explore how to make unique designs of three-dimensional objects, such as a bracelet, a pin, or a brooch. Basic wet felting techniques will be covered. Instructor will send a material list before the workshop.
