Jewelry Studio and Materials Manager
The Jewelry Studio Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Jewelry Studio is clean, organized, and ready for classes. The Manager’s main duties involve maintaining the studio; keeping inventory of tools and materials; maintaining tools, equipment, and kilns; and ensuring everything is in working order.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with Jewelry faculty regarding needed supplies for classes and workshops
- Maintain the Jewelry studio and studio equipment
- Ensure the studio has enough materials to support all classes, workshops, and registered students
- Keep inventory and record of metal sales and Open Studio Punch Cards
- Creating orders for needed materials and restocking as needed
- Ensure the safety of the studio and use of equipment
- Prepare materials for workshops and classes, as needed
- Keep an inventory of Studio Materials and tools
- Schedule, assign, and manage monitors for Open Studio
- Provide studio orientation to new Jewelry instructors
Candidate must:
- Have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Jewelry and/or Metalsmithing or equivalent experience
- Have at least 3 years of experience working in an educational setting as a jewelry instructor or maintaining a jewelry studio
- Have knowledge of and experience with Metalsmithing, Wax Carving and Casting, Enameling
- Must know how to fire kilns
- Be highly organized
- Be comfortable communicating with faculty and students
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience running and maintaining a Jewelry/Metalsmithing studio
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Have experience running/maintaining jewelry kilns and a hydraulic press
This is an independent contractor position. Pay is a flat monthly rate for 6-8 hours per week or a minimum of 27 hours per month. TAC does not compensate for travel time or travel expenses.
