John Hatlestad – Ephemera

rocks, leaves, stones, feathers, worn metal objects

Out of stock

I am fascinated by the simplicity and cleverness of old tools: the farm implements that settled the land, fed families and tamed the earth. I use these elements in my artwork  in a silhouette echoing plows and which represents construction, strength, endurance and ruggedness.

These things are transient, and in combination with natural objects: sticks, feathers, stones. . .I am creating impermanent structures that evoke memories of once proud times, forgotten eras, and the ending if life cycles.
