Spent flowers from my garden and a collection of salvaged birthday roses prompted this series of gestural drawings. Once the freshness of the blossoms had faded and their fragile skeletal essence revealed, I was inspired to capture the energy of the shapes and the life they contained. I sketched the shapes from various viewpoints, so that each impression was documented for that passing moment. The drawings have become a record of my impressions, a celebration of the brevity of life, faded beauty and the inevitability of letting go.
