While my work tends to consider posthuman futures, inhuman worlds, and systems predicated on co-contamination, this moment of global crisis, quarantining, and viral spread has conjured up new tensions within my work. While I maintain that “infection” is indeed a critical aspect of life, mutation, and possibility within our universe, I also recognize that contamination is necessarily deadly and, as such, deeply traumatic. I seek to balance out the trauma of such loss by insisting on the radical porousness of life itself.
