Creating relief print by carving a woodblock is a direct and rewarding process akin to sculpture. For this collaborative class all levels are welcome. New students will be introduced to the fundamentals of carving, inking techniques and block registration to create beautiful woodblock prints. Through individually guided projects, continuing students will explore a variety of processes including textural embossing, boakashi color rolls, reduction carving, and multiple block methods. Concepts of monopriting and variable editions will be introduced.
