Students of all levels will learn to create both functional and sculptural forms and develop a solid understanding of ceramics, using hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. A variety of glazing and surface treatments will be explored, such as sgraffito, slip trailing, mishma, silkscreen and more. The studio offers several different clay bodies including white and brown stoneware and English porcelain. A very large selection of cone 10 glazes and under glazes allow for beautiful finishes with a wide range of colors. All ceramic classes include three free monitored open studio times for each registered student each session, with the option of purchasing more weekly. Studio time is dependent on studio and monitor availability. Class fees include glazes, firings and one 25 pound bag of clay per student. Additional clay may be purchased through the ceramics department.
